School Coalition: More Money is Not Enough

You’d think that the schools that sued the state would be happy with the new budget bill? Don’t be on it.

Distribution of school funds criticized

Alan Rupe and Robb, attorneys representing a coalition of 18 school districts known as Schools for Fair Funding, met Friday with their clients, including the Kansas City, Kan., School District. Based on that meeting, Robb said, they will prepare a brief pointing out to the court several problems with the new funding plan. The first is the amount of dollars going to schools with high levels of poverty.
The other objection is that the plan tilts too much towards rural schools.
