Group Calls for Change to Florida Laws

Scholars at the Hoover Institution are calling for changes in Florida’s recent education reforms, including a voter-mandated effort to reduce class sizes.

The editor of the new report said “The class-size straitjacket needs to be lifted.” Peterson and the other 10 members of the panel (Koret Task Force) also called for reversing a court decision that struck down a program that gave vouchers to students in failing schools. It also recommends making changes in the teacher certification process and moving some financial responsibilities from district officials to school leaders.
