The group MySchool, MyChoice points to several states that have used independent authorizers for charter schools. They include Florida (2006), South Carolina (2006) and New York (1998). Of course, there are other states that have independent authorizers, such as Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, and Minnesota–but not Kansas.
In Georgia, 72 percent of respondents favored multiple charter authorities. The amount was nearly 3 out of ever 4 respondents, across political lines.
