Charter School Report Card

The Center for Education Reform has released the latest version of its annual report card on charter school laws. The center reports that 40 states and the District of Columbia have a charter school law, while 10 do not.

The 10 that do not have any charter schools are:

  1. Alabama;
  2. Kentucky;
  3. Maine;
  4. Montana;
  5. Nebraska;
  6. North Dakota
  7. South Dakota
  8. Vermont
  9. Washington
  10. West Virginia

Minnesota, which has one of the best academic records of the states, has the best charter law. The District of Columbia, which has one of the worst academic records, has the second-best charter law.

Where is Kansas? It’s at 37 out of 41, beating only 4 other states.
